Westfield Youth Sports ● HomeWYSI Joins “Well Played Hamilton County” to Elevate Youth Sports

Hamilton County youth sports organizations are taking a major step forward with the launch of Well Played Hamilton County, a countywide collaboration designed to elevate youth sport environments, equip local sport organizations and position Hamilton County, Indiana, as a national model for healthy, youth-centered communities.

Led by Sports Wellness Platform in partnership with the Hamilton County Sports Authority, and supported by the National Council of Youth Sports (NCYS) through coach education resources, the collaboration brings together organizations, families, coaches, and community leaders around a shared vision: building a sport system where every participant feels valued, every organization is empowered, and every environment reflects the best of Hamilton County.

Participating organizations include Westfield Youth Sports, whose leadership and engagement have helped champion the collaborative spirit behind the effort, alongside additional local leagues and community partners committed to advancing youth well-being, development and positive sport culture. Throughout the process, Hamilton County Sports Authority is providing coordination and funding support.

“Well Played Hamilton County is about more than participation,” said Pamela Minix, founder & CEO of Sports Wellness Platform. “This collaboration is about creating environments where youth and families feel heard, valued, connected, and confident in the journey they are experiencing together. We’re building a sport system where participant needs are understood early, care is actionable, and wellness strengthens entire communities.”

Participating organizations will receive access to coordinated educational resources and communication tools designed to help leaders and their teams better understand youth and family perspectives while continuing to foster healthy culture, improve communication and encourage long-term participation.

Organizations will also engage in periodic athlete and family feedback touchpoints, educational programming and community-wide insight sharing designed to deepen trust, encourage positive communication and support long-term participant well-being.

A central focus of Well Played Hamilton County is creating stronger listening systems between youth, families, coaches, organizations and county leadership – helping communities better understand participant needs and respond with meaningful action, guidance and communication.

“Through Well Played Hamilton County, leaders have guidance when they need it, organizations have access to trusted resources and families know there is a proven system behind their sports experience in our county,” said Carl Daniels, director of Hamilton County Sports Authority. “Together, we’re building a model for what youth sports can look like.”

The broader vision is to establish Hamilton County as a destination known not only for hosting sport but for delivering exceptional athlete and family environments built on trust, belonging, and shared leadership.

Community leaders involved in the collaboration believe this approach can help:

  • Build stronger trust and communication between families and organizations
  • Improve athlete retention and long-term development
  • Encourage healthier sport environments across all levels
  • Establish a unified community standard for youth sport
  • Create deeper alignment between youth, families, sport leaders, and the broader community

The collaboration also aligns with growing national conversations around athlete well-being, mental health, safeguarding, and long-term participant development.

As the effort expands, Hamilton County leaders hope the model will become a blueprint other communities can follow.

Community leaders anticipate additional organizations and regional partners joining the collaboration as Well Played Hamilton County continues building momentum across the region.
