Cross Country

Westfield Green Wave (WYSI Cross Country) was established in 2012 as a running club for Westfield boys and girls in grades kindergarten through sixth grade. Green Wave cross country is an all inclusive sport, meaning we accept and encourage runners from every skill level to join. Our focus is providing a fun opportunity for athletes to learn the basics of the team sport of Cross Country while challenging themselves individually. Our culture is one of positivity and improvement by teaching them proper mechanics, self discipline, rigor, and a respect for the sport. Cross Country is a coed sport with boys and girls being eligible to participate.

    1k Athlete Time Trial and Parents Meeting @ Monon Trail Elementary – 6:00 pm

    First practice @ Washington Woods Elementary School – 6:00 pm

    Picture Day and First In-House Meet 

    Practice Schedule
    Days: Monday, Wednesday and Thursday
    Time: 6-7 PM
    Location: August - Washington Woods
    Location: September/October - Rotate between Monon Trail and Washington Woods 

    Practice Expectations
    Each session includes a brief team meeting, stretching, running activities, strength and conditioning, and a PR ribbon handout. We also promote nutrition and healthy lifestyles.

    Meet and Event Information
    * Most home events will take place at Monon Trail Elementary*

    In-House Events: One time trial and two club meets (Westfield athletes only)
    The Westfield Classic: Hosted by the Green Wave and will feature other IYTA teams
    Saturday Meets: There will be 4-5 off-site meets against area clubs... Fees are included with registration
    Championship:     The regular season concludes with the IYTA Championship in late October.

    Post-Season: There are optional post-season meets available. Please note that a USATF membership is required for these specific events.

    About Green Wave Cross Country
    We are a proud member of the Indiana Youth Track Association (IYTA). Our athletes compete against conference teams such as Body in Training, Fishers Fire, Athlead Indy, HP Distance, and the Greenfield Trailblazers.

Please note: The registration fee includes registration for ALL Saturday meets (through the IYTA Championship race).
