Volleyball
WYSI volleyball is aimed at teaching the fundamentals of the game in a fun and encouraging atmosphere. There is no experience necessary to play, only a willingness to learn, listen, and have fun! Practices are held once a week (Monday through Thursday) and games are played on Saturday’s. WYSI offers four leagues combining third and fourth grade, fifth and sixth grade, seventh with eighth and finally a high school division (9-12).
Volleyball is a co-ed sport. Boys and girls are eligible to participate.

Important Dates to Remember:
First Practices: Week of August 17
First Games: Saturday, August 22
Labor Day Weekend - No Games: September 5
Last Practices: Week of October 5
Tournament: Week of October 10
Practices: One night per week, scheduled between Monday and Thursday. Practices are held at Westfield Elementary Schools and we are not able to accept requests for practice nights.
Games: Volleyball games are played on Saturday. Times range between 8 AM and 3 PM.
Coaches: We need volunteer coaches. Make sure to sign up to be a head coach or assistant coach. The commissioner is available to help with drills, practice ideas, etc.
Background Checks Required: If you want to coach, you must complete a background check. To do this, please register in LeagueApps first; once registered to coach, you’ll automatically receive an email from Ankored to log in and complete your requirements. No separate account creation is needed; simply visit app.ankored.com and use your LeagueApps username and password. Completing the background check is required prior to team practices/games.

Rec-Plus Volleyball (Girls Only)
WYSI Volleyball is excited to announce the addition of a Rec-Plus League this year for our 5th and 6th grade girls. This program aims to have four teams (if there is enough interest). These teams would be led by an overall coach that sets practice plans. We will also need coaching assistance, asking parents/volunteers to help lead practices.
Rec-Plus will practice for 90-minutes one day a week and have tournament style games on Saturday’s, playing two games each Saturday and helping ref/score one game to better prepare girls for club volleyball if they decide to play at that level in the winter.
Rec-Plus evaluations will be held on Thursday, July 30th from 5:30-7:30 PM at Monon Select. If your daughter makes the Rec-Plus Program, you will pay a $160 fee. If she does not make the Rec-Plus program and you’d like to be refunded, we will honor that and place your player in our recreational league.
Evaluations
All registered athletes competing in the 7/8th and the 9-12th recreational leagues will have evaluations on Thursday, July 30th from 5:30-7:30 PM at Monon Select.
