Take the First Step Toward Excellence

Track & Field

WYSI Track & Field is a fundamental skills-building program open to athletes ages 7+. Athletes learn the basics and technique for the events they are interested in, supported by volunteer parent coaches who have a passion for the sport. Parent coaches are always needed, whether you have experience or are willing to learn alongside your athlete. WYSI would like to thank three individuals who will serve as commissioners for the 2026 season: Chris Jones, Matthew Moody and Serena Davis.

League Overview

General Information

Welcome to WYSI Track & Field!

This program is a fundamental skills builder filled with volunteer parent coaches who have a passion for the sport. Your athlete will learn the fundamental skills for events that they are interested in. We are always looking for parent coaches with experience or a willingness to learn the skills alongside their athlete.

Parents Meeting / Field Event Tryout: TBD
We will discuss the season in greater detail at the mandatory Parents Meeting. The date and time for this meeting is still to be determined.

While the parent meeting is going on, your athlete will have the opportunity to tryout any or all of the field events. The goal for tryout night is to narrow down what events your athlete would like to focus on during practices and meets. If your athlete is not interested in field events, they do not need to attend. The parent meeting will still be mandatory.

Practices
Practices will begin at 6:00 p.m. and conclude at 7:00 p.m. Practice dates are set for April 27th, May 1st, 4th, 12th, 14th, 19th, 21st, 26th, 28th, and June 2nd, 4th, 9th, 11th.

It is not a requirement to attend every practice but athletes are encouraged to participate whenever possible.

We will encourage athletes to focus on UP TO three events for the season. Athletes should choose one event to focus on for each practice which will allow our coaches to teach proper form/technique for each discipline.

Meets
All Meet Dates are still TBD

INTERESTED IN COACHING?

Without our parent coaches our program cannot run efficiently or offer all the track and field events for our athletes.

If you are interested in helping to coach or volunteer, please contact the commissioner and let them know how you would like to help. You can also register to volunteer during athlete registration. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY, just a willingness to learn alongside your athlete and a head coach.

We always need coaches with experience in the following areas:
long jump, high jump, javelin, shot put, discus, and starting blocks.

A WYSI Background Check is REQUIRED for all coaches. Please complete the background check a week before the first practice in order to be eligible to coach.
