Travel Cheer

Travel Cheer is Westfield Youth Sports’ competitive cheer program for experienced 5th and 6th graders (2+ seasons) who have mastered core motions, multiple jumps, and have some stunt experience. The team focuses on fine-tuning technique while adding stunts, tumbling (as appropriate), and dances, cheerleaders are expected to learn 50 to 75 chants/cheers, attend weekly practice, and cheer at Westfield Travel Football home games plus select away games within a short local radius (typically 1 to 2 games per weekend). The page also includes season basics like the fee (uniform pieces included), practice timing (TBA, starting in July), first game date, season end, and a Travel Cheer Clinic planned for late July (date/time TBD)

LEAGUE DESCRIPTION

Travel Cheer - Football

The Travel Cheer Team is composed of 5th and 6th graders that are experienced in cheer (2+ Seasons) and have mastered all cheer motions, multiple cheer jumps, and have some level of experience with cheer stunts. The travel cheer team will focus on fine-tuning motions and jumps as well as integrating stunts and tumbling into cheers and chants. Dances will also be incorporated based on the skill level of the team.

Expectations

Travel cheerleaders will be expected to master 50-75 chants and cheers; cheer jumps and motions. Travel Cheerleaders will attend a weekly practice and attend all games as scheduled by the coach. The squad will cheer at all Travel Football home games and away games that fall within Hamilton County, some Marion County/Boone County (no further than 20 miles from Westfield). A typical schedule will have 1-2 games per weekend.

If you want to volunteer or coach at WYSI you’ll need to complete a background check.

*Registration fee will include uniform top and skirt, briefs, hair bow, and poms.
