Frequently Asked Questions
Q. What days of the week are practices and what is the locations?
A. Last year, there were 30 teams of 8-10 players each, so there are a lot of practice locations and times. Practices are once a week sometime between Monday and Thursday, in one of the elementary schools in Westfield. They can start as early as 6:15 or as late as 7:30. We are not able to accept requests for practice nights.
Q. When are the games?
A. The games are on Saturday, at varied times between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM, usually at one location such as Westfield Intermediate School.
Q. Can I request a certain coach, or to be on a team with my neighbor for carpool purposes, etc.
A. No, per the WYSI Policies and Procedures (Section 7.C.6.b). With the number of players that we place on teams, we try to focus on distributing skill above all else. Usually there will be someone from your team randomly that can help with carpool if needed, after all, Westfield is not that big.
Q. What kind of experience is needed to coach?
A. None, really. Especially with the younger kids. The commissioner is available to help with some drills, practice ideas, etc., that will make you successful.
